TRAVIS PRESTON

DEAN, SCHOOL OF THEATER, CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF THE ARTS
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, CALARTS CENTER FOR NEW PERFORMANCE

Travis Preston is Dean of the CalArts School of Theater and Artistic Director of the CalArts Center for New Performance, the professional producing arm of the California Institute of the Arts.

He is an internationally acclaimed director of theater and opera and was named Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Minister of Culture for "contributions to the arts in France and throughout the world".

Travis has taught at many universities and training programs: the Yale School of Drama, Columbia School of the Arts, New York University, National Theater School of Denmark, Indiana University, Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, and Harvard University, where he was Director of the Harvard Summer Drama Program. He was recently appointed to the Artistic Committee of the prestigious Wuzhen Theatre Festival in China - the only member appointed outside of China
